Legal & Legislative Committee

The Legal & Legislative Committee at TSACA works to facilitate our relationship with local city and state governments in the Tri-State Area.  This committee is comprised of representatives from the varied divisions of our membership and meets quarterly to discuss and work toward resolving issues and agenda items submitted by our membership.

How can the Legal & Legislative Committee help you and your business with legislative issues from the city to the state level in Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri? Email Shaél to submit issues.

City of Joplin

The City Liaison Committee was created in early 2016 by the Legal & Legislative Committee to facilitate a working relationship with the City of Joplin.  The goal of this committee is to meet regularly and maintain an open line of communication between our membership and the City of Joplin Building Department officials to resolve issues that we mutually face in the commercial construction industry.

Working together, we have been able to support positive changes to city policy regarding updated change orders that protects the city and provides a fair and predictable process for contractors.

Our meetings are now focused on working with staff to improve building permit applications and the inspection process.

The City of Joplin recently joined TSACA's membership, and we appreciate their desire to work alongside us.  Our combined efforts have and will continue to bring about positive change to our communities.  You can help us help you by submitting your specific, recurring issues with City of Joplin procedures or processes for our agenda.  The City will also present agenda items and inform us of upcoming projects.

Please consider joining us for our next meeting at the TSACA office.  If you cannot attend, but have a question to add to our agenda, please email Shaél.  These meetings are open to all TSACA members, and we encourage you to attend!
